Which are Better… 2 or 1 hour Driving Lessons?

At Fantoni Driving School, we offer driving lessons over varying lengths. However, having monitored students progress we believe that two hour lessons are more beneficial for the student.

Whilst the skill of driving hasn’t been fully learnt, it usually takes about 20 minutes just for the student to get back to the standard of the previous lesson. This is based on our observation of student performance and feedback from students. This 20 minute, “warm up” period is significantly less of a proportion of a 2 hour lesson than a 1 hour lesson.

This also means that on a 1 hour Lesson it takes nearly half  the lesson just to feel comfortable behind the wheel again!

One point of view is that that the student,  “will feel tired” and “stop learning” after 1 hour of driving. However, we have found that if lessons are made interesting with a clear goal, the time will pass quickly.

Driving lessons should include an appropriate balance of theory, demonstration and practice. Driving lessons are structured for the student to gain maximum benefit.

Once the student has experienced a 2 hour lesson once, they may soon quickly change their mind about which length of lesson is more beneficial.

For those of you with busier schedules, you might not want to disrupt your usual timetable for a long period. So, if you condense 6 month’s worth of 1 hour lessons into 3 month’sworth of two hour lessons, it can accelerate your learning significantly.

Because more progress can be made in 2 hour driving lessons, higher retention and absorption can be applied to future driving lessons.

So, as you can see, there are plenty of advantages to 2 hour driving lessons. We offer shorter or longer driving lessons. However, we do feel 2 hours driving lessons offer better value for money overall.
